(Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College held its Nursing Pinning Ceremony for 45 students May 12 at the VA Auditorium in Dublin. Speakers included Carmen Wheeler and Christopher Marc Reed, students who represented the Cochran and Dublin campuses, and Chyrileen Kilcrease, a nursing faculty member, who spoke about the significance of the pins. Paula Bryant, a nursing faculty member, and Rodney Carr, the Dublin Campus director, presented the Academic Excellence Award to Donna Fay Evans, the Clinical Excellence Awards to Carmen Wheeler and Charisse Holmes, and the Overall Excellence Award to Christopher Marc Reed.

After being pinned by Dr. Joanne Jackson, Chair of the Division of Health Sciences, the 45 graduates were given roses and a nightingale lamp by nursing faculty members Carole Martin and Theresa Rase. Nursing faculty member Liz Aycock led the traditional Lighting and Passing of the lamp ceremony, where each graduate passed the flame from the MGC Nursing Lamp to each of their lamps. The graduates were then led by nursing faculty member Brandy Vann in the Nightingale Pledge, the oath for professional nurses.
