QUINN BRINGS AMADEUS AND FRIENDS TO MIDDLE GEORGIA
Release Date:09/09/2010

The Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra will open its fourth concert season Saturday, September 18th at 7:30pm at the Second Baptist Church, 2504 Moody Road in Warner Robins, GA. The program then will be repeated a day later, Sunday September 19th, at 2 p.m. at Hawkinsville’s Grand Opera House, downtown Hawkinsville, GA.

The opening concert weekend series titled Amadeus and Friends, features music composed by Mozart, Bizet, Glinka, and Rachmaninoff. The performance will begin with Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture followed by Bizet’s Carmen Suite. The first half will come to a close with Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major. Taneea Hull will be the clarinet soloist. “I recently heard Ms. Hull’s recital at the First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins”, said OSO conductor Dr. Charles Quinn. “She is an extraordinarily talented young performer and I cannot wait to hear her play the Mozart.”

After the break the orchestra will play the Second Piano Concerto of Sergei Rachmaninoff with Dawson Hull, the evenings featured performer, as the piano soloist. Mr. Hull is currently the Instrumental Minister of Music at the Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Mr. and Mrs. Hull are both graduates of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

This year the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra will reach farther than ever, with inaugural appearances in Macon, Warner Robins and Perry. Dr. Charles L. Quinn, the orchestra’s artistic director and conductor says, “This will be a major growth season for us. We’ll be making our first appearances in several communities, and we’ll also reach younger audiences in a number of performances. Our schedule reflects the goal we’ve had since our first 2007 concert in Hawkinsville – ‘to provide great music wherever the Ocmulgee flows’.”

Tickets for our first weekend of concerts are available at the Opera House in Hawkinsville, ComSouth in Perry and Cochran, Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins or can be purchased by mail, at Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 684, Cochran, GA 31014; or online at www.ocmulgeesymphonyorchestra.com.
