(Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College recently held a Toast and Tribute to President Dr. Michael Stoy to thank him for his years of service to the college. The reception was held in the President’s Conference Room in Georgia Hall
Vice President of Fiscal Affairs Lynn Hobbs, Interim Vice President of Student and Public Affairs Jennifer Brannon, MGC Foundation Chairman Charles Parker, and MGC Institutional Advancement Director Jennifer Barfield gave tribute to Dr. Stoy. Dr Richard Charles, the Business and Aviation Division Chair, gave the welcome as well as the closing remarks and toast. The Concert Band, led by Dr. Alan Clark, and the Jazz Band, led by Miguel Castro, also performed at the event.
Dr. Stoy was also presented with several gifts, including a painting from the Living Water for Girls Foundation. Jennifer Barfield also presented Dr. Stoy with a framed collection of items from his inauguration from the MGC Foundation. Attendees also made contributions to the William J. Stoy Scholarship, raising enough money to establish the scholarship as an endowed scholarship. “We could think of no better way to honor him then to try to establish the fund as endowed,” said Ms. Barfield. “Over 100 individuals made gifts to fund the scholarship in his honor.” The fund, established in 2011, is intended for students with demonstrated financial needs who have overcome some hardships in order to attend college.
Dr. Stoy said, “I was totally taken by surprise. I am blessed to have had an opportunity to be part of the Middle Georgia family for the past five years.”
