2012 GEORGIA GEOSPATIAL CONFERENCE

MGC’s Engineering Professor, Roger Purcell, PE, RLS, presented “Technical Standards for Surveyors in Georgia” at the 2012 Georgia Geospatial Conference at UGA in Athens on October 17th & 18th. The theme of the conference was “Where We Are Now” in Geospatial-GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and Surveying-Geomatics professions/applications in Georgia. Professor Purcell’s presentation covered federal, state and local legal & technical requirements for surveying-geomatics as well as surveying education requirements, comparisons of regulations with adjoining states, guidance for the implementation of new technology and an introduction to the impact of sustainability requirements and climate change on surveying-geomatics practice.
