By: Tricia Purser Release Date:08/23/2012
(Cochran, GA) - The Georgia Aviation Campus of Middle Georgia College held its “Move-in Day” for students on Friday, August 17. Members of New Union Baptist Church, MGC Chief Flight Instructor Adam Holloway and MGC Flight Staff, and MGC custodial and maintenance staff helped about 130 students move into the Aviation Hall Dormitory. MGC provided grilled hot dogs for students, family, and volunteers, and cold drinks and baked goods were offered by the church. New Union also gave each student a free backpack with gifts inside.
Dr. David Brockway, the Director of the Aviation Campus, said, “What a great way to welcome our students and their families to Eastman! Many students are away from home and family for the first time. It’s nice to know that there are people in the community who are interested in them, and are eager to meet their spiritual and physical needs.”
Brian Harrell, the Director of Residence Life, said, “We would like to thank all of our volunteers for helping make Move-in Day a success, and for showing our students and their families how important community is at MGC.”
Pastor Brad Dowdy of New Union Baptist Church said, “We are very appreciative of the school in our community, and we want to support it in any way that we can.”
