MIDDLE GEORGIA COLLEGE TO HOST “CAMP INVENTION” PROGRAM
Release Date:04/03/2012

(Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College will host the “Camp Invention” program this summer from June 4-7 for elementary school children entering grades one through six. “’Camp Invention’ is an exciting opportunity to expose young minds to the fascinating world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics,” said Dr. Deepa Arora, the MGC Chair of the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering. “The activities included will encourage scientific reasoning and problem solving thought processes and promote interests in these disciplines.”

Cora Pooler, the director of the program and a MGC Education Instructor, said that the Camp Invention program will allow children to discover their own innate creativity and inventiveness as they rotate through four integrated modules that employ creative thinking to solve real-world problems. “In this summer’s Create program, children will experience different modules entitled Problem Solving on Planet ZAK, Saving Sludge City, I Can Invent: Balloon Burst, and Action and Adventure Games,” she said. “Children in this program will spend their four days rebuilding an eco-friendly city, ‘reassembling’ a crashed spacecraft from a variety of common objects, and much more!”
