 MIDDLE GEORGIA COLLEGE CELEBRATES HOMECOMING (Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College recently celebrated its 2011 Homecoming with a variety of activities, including a Homecoming Parade, Haunted Trail Ride and Bonfire, and a Homecoming Dance. The Homecoming Parade featured MGC and local dignitaries, including Mayor Cliff Avant and Commissioner Bob Brockman, as well as MGC student groups who presented floats and other entries. The parade, which went through downtown Cochran, also featured the Bleckley County High School Band, the MGC Drum Line, and the Dodge County High School Jr. ROTC. In the float contest, Anderson and Regents Halls won 1st place, the Leadership and Mentoring Program won 2nd place, and Aviation Hall won 3rd place. Students were also treated to a hayride through a Haunted Trail that began in Harris Hall Parking Lot and led to a Homecoming Bonfire at NeSmith Stadium. Along the trail, students encountered frightening scenes staged by student actors, including a cemetery with mummies and hanging skeletons. After the hayride, students roasted marshmallows and made s’mores at the bonfire. Renaldo Mathis and Fiona Owens were crowned Cochran Homecoming King and Queen at the Homecoming Dance, which had a Fantasy Ball theme. During the dance, Aviation Hall students performed a tribute to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” while dressed in costume. Sodexo prepared food and refreshments, and photos were provided by Coyote on Campus. The Student Activity Board and the Student Government Association helped decorate for the dance. The Aviation Campus King and Queen are Charles Barreiro and Miranda Eddie Ross, and the Dublin Campus King and Queen are Tyler Gay and Lakeisha Parker. |
