Flight Technology (Helicopter) Certificate/Mini-Certificate Programs

Helicopter Certificate Program Description:

The Flight Technology Certificate in Helicopter program is intended to provide students with an introduction to the occupational area of commercial flight as currently understood and practiced by the Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Pilot certificate holders. Program graduates are to be competent in the general areas of communications, mathematics, and interpersonal relations. In addition, graduates are to be competent in the specific areas of flight navigation, aviation meteorology, aerodynamics, aviation regulations, commercial pilot flight operations, flight instructional methods, and aviation instruction design. Program graduates who obtain the FAA Commercial Pilot certificate and the Rotorcraft Helicopter Flight Instructor certificate will also be awarded a Flight Technology certificate.

General Information

During this one year program, students first acquire their private pilot's license, followed by an instrument rating, a commercial pilot's certificate, and flight instructor's rating. Academics are stressed throughout the program, and flying begins in the first semester. This program is offered as a full-time, day program. Some evening flight training is required.
