Airplane Flight Course Application

SFTA 401 - Introductory Flight Lesson

 

Description: Discover your interest in learning to fly by taking an introductory flight lesson in an airplane (Piper Warrior). Individuals must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible and may not be accompanied by anyone else. Individuals under the age of 16 are not permitted to take an Introductory Flight. An Introductory Flight includes: one hour of ground instruction and one hour of flight instruction.

Cost: Introductory flight lesson in an airplane (Piper Warrior) is $100.

Schedule: Introductiory Flights are scheduled by appointment only and depend on availability of instructor and aircraft.

SFTA 410 - Ground Instruction

(5 Hour Block)

Description: Five or ten hours of ground instruction appropriate for any phase of aviation training may be purchased for airplane or helicopter.

Cost: Five hours of ground instruction cost $160. Books and materials not included.

Schedule:Training is scheduled by appointment only and depends on instructor and aircraft availability.

SFTA 420 - Ground Instruction

(10 Hour Block)

Description: Ten hours of ground instruction appropriate for any phase of aviation training.

Cost: Ten hours ground instruction cost $320. Books and materials are not included.

SFTA 411 - Simulator Instruction

(5 Hour Block)

Description: Five hours of simulator instruction appropriate for any phase of flight training.

Cost: Five hours of simulator instruction for a simple single-engine, complex single-engine, or simple multi-engine aircraft (Piper Warrior, Piper Arrow, or Piper Seminole) cost $545. Books and materials are not included.

(10 Hour Block)

Description: Ten hours of simulator instruction appropriate for any phase of flight training.

Cost: Ten hours of simulator instruction (Piper Warrior, Piper Arrow, or Piper Seminole) cost $1090. Books and materials are not included.

SFTA 430, 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436 - Flight Review

Description: A pilot is normally required by the FAA to complete a flight review with an authorized instructor every 24 months. According to FAR 61.56, a flight review consists of a minimum of 1 hour of flight instruction and 1 hour of ground instruction, covering current general operating rules and flight rules under FAR Part 91, and a review of those maneuvers and procedures that, at the discretion of the person giving the review, are necessary for the pilot to demonstrate the safe exercise of the privileges of the pilot certificate. A flight review can be conducted in any aircraft for which the pilot is rated.

SFTA 454, 455 - Tailwheel Training

Description: According to FAR 61.31, no person may act as pilot in command of a tailwheel airplane unless that person has received and logged flight training from an authorized instructor in a tailwheel airplane and received an endorsement in the person's logbook from an authorized instructor who found the person proficient in the operation of a tailwheel airplane. Although a minimum number of hours of ground and flight instruction are not specified by FAR 61, our experience suggests that a tailwheel training course should consist of two hours of ground instruction and five hours of flight instruction. Training will be conducted in an American Champion Citabria aircraft. If required by the instructor in order to meet FAA requirements, up to five additional hours of flight instruction may be purchased.
