![]() MGC HOLDS RECEPTION HONORING DR. MARY ELLEN WILSON (Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College recently held a reception honoring Dr. Mary Ellen Wilson, who is leaving MGC after 28 years of service. Dr. Wilson, who served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at MGC, will serve as the Interim President of Waycross College in Waycross, Ga. After her year as Interim President at Waycross, Dr. Wilson will retire. On behalf of the Employee Recognition Committee, Johnny McMoy welcomed the attendees to the reception and presented Dr. Wilson with an engraved clock, saying “Mary Ellen, on behalf of the students, employees, friends, and community stakeholders of the college, I would like to present you with this token of our appreciation for a job well done.” MGC division chairs Dr. Deepa Arora, Dr. Peter Makaya, Dr. Crystal O’Leary Davidson, and Dr. Rick Charles all spoke about Dr. Wilson. Darryl Hancock, the Director of the Division of Distance Learning, presented Dr. Wilson with a gift card for an iPhone. Dr. Wilson has been a history professor at MGC since 1983, and has served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs since 2000. She received her associate degree from MGC in 1972, and her bachelor’s degree from Mercer University in 1974. She received both her master’s degree and PhD in history from Florida State University in 1975 and 1983, respectively. Besides MGC, Dr. Wilson has taught at Tift College in Forsyth, Ga., Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fl., and at Chester Elementary School in Chester, Ga. |
