COMPASS Testing Rules
- ID required-no one will be allowed to test without ID!
- You MUST be on-time-no one will be admitted once testing has begun
- THERE IS NO "MAKE-UP" FOR COMPASS. If you are late or miss your testing session you will be required to take the class again next semester
- No talking once the student has entered the computer lab.
- No leaving the lab during testing
- No books, bags, purses, notebooks, notes, cell phones, calculators, etc, allowed inside lab. Calculators and scratch paper will be provided for Math students. All scratch paper MUST be returned to the proctor before leaving the lab.
- Scores will be available from instructors within 24 hours of the testing session.
- Students who score within 5 points are eligible for retest.
Exit Essay Exam Rules
- Successful completion of the essay exam is a requirement for COMPASS eligibility
- Must be on time and present valid ID
- Cell phones must be turned off
- No talking or leaving the room during test time
- Student MGC ID number at the top right of first page-DO NOT USE YOUR NAME OR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.
- Two hour limited-officially documented as LD or ESL will have extended time
- Standard 5 paragraph essay format is required
- Choice of five topics
- Include topic on title page
- Essay written in pen (blue or black ink) double-spaced front side of standard
- notebook paper-no backs
- Minimum of 400 words
- Dictionary, main textbook, and electronic spellers are allowed. No notes or notebooks are allowed.
- No white-out
- No staples
- Proctor will periodically inform students of time remaining. When time is up.
- essay will be collected immediately.
- Fold essay and write MGC ID # on outside of essay
- Place completed essay with proper class section
