  • Do I have to apply for financial aid every year?
    Yes, you must complete a new FAFSA every year. It is available beginning January 1st.

  • How do I change my loan amount?
    Your loan is certified for the amount on your award. If you wish to change this, email efeyeinaeyedeeatem g see dot e dee yoo with the specific loan type and the specific loan amount.

  • How many hours do I have to be enrolled in to receive financial aid?
    You must be in six (6) semester hours to receive student loans; other financial aid adjusts based on your number of hours.
  • I want to come summer semester. How do I apply for financial aid for summer?
    You must complete a summer application along with the current years FAFSA. This form is located on the “Forms” section of our website. Submit it by the deadline on the application to ensure a timely response from the Financial Aid Office.
  • My family’s income has changed drastically this year. Can the financial aid office help me?
    Absolutely. Please contact your financial aid counselor or email efeyeinaeyedeeatem g see dot e dee yoo for more specific information – Remember every student’s situation is different.
  • What happens if I withdraw from all of my classes and I receive financial aid?
    A calculation is done through the Department of Education called Return of Title IV Funds. MGC has to return a portion of the unearned funds that the student did not receive. It can leave the student owing a balance to MGC.

  • What types of financial aid does the FAFSA check for?
    The FAFSA checks for all Federal and State Financial Aid. It does not check for Private Scholarship or Private Loans.
    Additional paperwork is needed for Federal Student Loans (www.mgc.edu/financialaid/loaninfo.cfm) and Federal Work Study (link for Work Study).
  • Will dropping classes affect my financial aid?
    If you drop before the drop/add period your financial aid will adjust to the number of hours you are enrolled. If you drop after drop/add you will be able to maintain your current financial aid (unless you withdraw completely from all the courses); However, your Satisfactory Academic Progress may be effected.
