Veterans, Reservists, Guardsmen, Dependents, & Spouses (Chapters 30, 31, 33, 1606, 1607, & 35)

The GI BILL provides educational money to veterans, guardsmen, reservists, spouses and dependents. Students receive a monthly stipend that is based on attendance. Payments can only be made to the students. The amount depends on the number of credit hours in which the student is currently enrolled. Hence, a reduction or stop of payment will be in effect immediately following a student's drop, withdrawal, and/or audit during the term for which enrollment certification has been processed. Payments are made directly to the student from the Department of Veteran Affairs at the end of each month in which your enrollment has been certified. Tuition and fees are paid to the college for students eligible under Chapter 33.

The Veteran's Office is located on the Main Campus in Grace Hall.

Documents a student veteran or the dependant of a veteran may need to claim their educational benefits:

VA Form 22-1990 or 22-1990b or 22-1990e (Application for Educational Benefits)
Certificate of Eligibility
DD-214 (service record)
VA Form 28-1905 (for VA Ch 31 Vocational Rehabilitation benefits)
VA Form 2384-1 Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) (for VA Ch 1606 or 1607 benefits)

If you are a Veteran, you have to complete an application for VA Benefits. If you have completed an application and have received a Certificate of Eligibility from the Regional Office in Atlanta stating you are eligible for benefits, then a copy of that letter needs to be forwarded to the Registrar's Office. If you are a child of a veteran, you are eligible to receive benefits if the veteran is deceased or has been ruled 100% disabled by the VA or if the veteran has transferred his/her benefits to you.

If you have not completed an Application for Education Benefits, please log on to www.gibill.va.gov. Please submit it online. Make a copy and send it to the VA Representative in the Registrar's Office with a copy of your DD-214.

The VA Representative does not determine eligibility for benefits or have access to any student's Department of Defense VA records. Students with questions about their eligibility for benefits and payment questions should contact the Department of Veterans Affairs at

Once you have applied and been accepted to the college, you will be allowed to register for classes during specific dates. Veterans MUST email the VA Representative after registration for each semester they would like to use benefits. At that time, an Enrollment Certification will be submitted to the Regional Office in Atlanta by the VA Representative in the Registrar's Office. Any changes to the student's schedule needs to be reported to the VA Representative.

If you have received VA benefits from another institution, complete a "Change of Program/Place of Training" form.
