Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I know if I am eligible to graduate?
A: Students must meet with their academic advisor to have all coursework/graduation requirements verified. We highly recommend that students do this when approaching 30 semester hours. The student's academic advisor will complete a Graduation Check Sheet for the student and will forward the check sheet to the Office of the Registrar for final approval.
Q: How do I apply for Graduation?
A: Student must complete a graduation application and return it to the Registrar's Office prior to the deadline for the semester they intend to graduate. Students will not be evaluated for graduation until the application is completed. Applications returned AFTER the deadline could delay transcripts or diplomas being mailed and/or could forfeit privileges of participating in the Spring Commencement Ceremony.
Q: Is there a fee? A: Yes. A graduation fee of $35 is due prior the deadlines for the semester in which the student expects to graduate. The fee covers the engraving of the diploma, and the purchase of your cap and gown.
Q: What are the Graduation Application and Fee deadlines?
A: Fall-September 15, Spring-February 15, Summer-June 15
Q: Can I purchase graduation announcements?
A: Yes. The MGC Campus Bookstore has graduation announcements available approximately four weeks before graduation. These can be purchased in packs of ten or individually.
Q: When and where is graduation held?
A: The graduation ceremony is held once a year at the end of Spring semester. This year graduation will be held at NeSmith Stadium.
Q: How soon will I receive details concerning graduation?
A: Approximately two weeks prior to graduation, you will receive general instructions from the Office of the Registrar concerning the date and time, caps and gowns, rehearsal and your seating arrangement for the graduation ceremony.

A: If you will need any type of special accommodations for graduation, please contact Allen Chastain at (478) 934-3023 at least two weeks in advance.
